I started to play music at twelve, after having lessons in folk and rock guitar for several years, I started to work with the violin, learning traditional music from around the British Isles, Studying for a degree in music opened a whole new world of musical styles and soon I was playing Jazz and country music in various bands and venues.

Being involved in community projects, group and individual tuition, music workshops and live performance work. Since 2004 I have worked as a peripatetic guitar and violin teacher in North Yorkshire schools.​

I am still wholeheartedly committed to playing live and I try to encourage a love of performance in my students, with regular concerts for students at village halls around my local area. I believe performing to be fun, as well as a framework for students to work within and aspire to, this is strictly optional and is only appropriate for people who want to be involved in this element of the lessons
